Online Family Mediation

The Same Accredited Mediation, Wherever You're Based

No office to travel to, no time off work, no waiting room to share with your ex-partner — just a secure video call with an FMC-accredited mediator, at a time that actually works for you.
Online family mediation lets you resolve child arrangements, finances and property disputes from home, by secure video call, with the same qualified mediators and the same structured process as our face-to-face sessions in Staffordshire. It’s not a lesser version of mediation — it’s the identical service, delivered somewhere more convenient for you.

How Online Family Mediation Works

It starts the same way as any other case: an individual MIAM, held by video call, where your mediator explains the process and checks mediation is right for your situation. If it is, we move into joint sessions — usually two to four, depending on how much there is to work through — held at agreed times, including evenings and weekends.

If you’d rather not share a call with your ex-partner, that’s not a problem. The same online setup lets your mediator move between two separate calls, passing proposals back and forth — a form of shuttle mediation that works just as well remotely as it does in person.

What You'll Need

Nothing complicated: a private room where you won’t be overheard, a reasonably stable internet connection, and a laptop, tablet or smartphone with a camera and microphone. There’s no special software to download — we’ll send you a simple joining link ahead of every session, and talk you through it if you’re not confident with video calls.

Privacy and Security

Every session runs on a secure video platform, and nothing is recorded. Online family mediation is treated with exactly the same confidentiality as an in-person appointment — what’s discussed in your sessions stays between you, your ex-partner, and your mediator.

Is Online Mediation as Effective as In-Person?

Yes. Outcomes from online family mediation are comparable to face-to-face sessions, and many clients find it easier to stay calm and focused when joining from a familiar space rather than an unfamiliar office. It also opens things up if you or your ex-partner have moved away from Staffordshire, or simply live too far apart for in-person sessions to be practical.
