It starts the same way as any other case: an individual MIAM, held by video call, where your mediator explains the process and checks mediation is right for your situation. If it is, we move into joint sessions — usually two to four, depending on how much there is to work through — held at agreed times, including evenings and weekends.
If you’d rather not share a call with your ex-partner, that’s not a problem. The same online setup lets your mediator move between two separate calls, passing proposals back and forth — a form of shuttle mediation that works just as well remotely as it does in person.
Yes. Outcomes from online family mediation are comparable to face-to-face sessions, and many clients find it easier to stay calm and focused when joining from a familiar space rather than an unfamiliar office. It also opens things up if you or your ex-partner have moved away from Staffordshire, or simply live too far apart for in-person sessions to be practical.
